This application was originally developed as an internet based Learning Management System (LMS) complete with the ability to author courses, register and track students as well as produce reports and statistics.  A number of our more successful clients have found value in the use of this product in a variety of other business areas, such as policies and procedures, workplace safety and many more.  The evolution of learn.IT has included many such features, resulting in increased functionality and a broader appeal across an organization.  Any time an organization is faced with the daunting task of distributing information to a large number of employees, particularly when the target personnel are based in the field or in satellite offices around the country or the world, a tool such as learn.IT can provide a return-on-investment amazingly quickly.

Learning Management and Delivery

What makes learn.IT stand out from the rest of the product field is the fact the knowledge worker (expert) does not need to acquire technical skills to use the tool to develop, enhance and adapt courseware.  The author is insulated from the underlying technology by a template and therefore can maximize their knowledge contribution.  This ability allows organizations to develop and deliver course material faster and with substantially lowered costs and long-term investments.

learn.IT is equipped with a complete administration component that allows for managed registration and/or self-registration.  This feature allows personnel without internet access to participate equally and can be adjusted on a course by course basis.

Material is delivered via the internet, so other than the need for a browser, no new software needs to be licensed or loaded onto the desktop, thereby reducing costs and installation time..  Within corporate security guidelines and policies, personnel can even access courseware from any location, take courses such as upgrades, certifications and many more. on a flexible schedule.

learn.IT has also includes a complete tracking system, allowing organizations to know who has taken what courses, what standards were met, grades achieved and scheduling of personnel certification.  This is particularly important in areas such as Occupational Health and Safety, where it is no longer sufficient to hold or deliver safety courses.  Organizations need to demonstrate "due diligence" by providing information such as when an employee was given a course, what standard did they meet, etc.  This information not only improves the organization’s information tracking, but also protects the company, department and personnel alike in the unlikely event of a breach of the company standard.

As a result of the technology used and the way the learn.IT is built, it interfaces easily with internal and third party applications, such as SAP.  Since learn.IT is SCORM compliant, any courseware, either internal or third party, can be integrated.

Since courseware is stored in a single location and accessed via the internet, management of changes becomes so much easier and cost-effective.  Once a course has been modified or upgraded and placed back onto the system, everyone logging into the course receives the new material.  This transition is seamless and easy to manage.   There is no more publishing and distribution of updates and the time lag between changes and delivery. Everything is instantaneous no matter where in the world the employee may be.

Policies and Procedures

One of the "facts of life" these days is companies have to demonstrate due diligence to protect themselves and their personnel from legal and/or civil litigation.  The same features that make this an excellent learning management product make it extremely valuable for publishing, managing and distributing policies and procedures (P&P).  The publication feature facilitates publishing, maintenance and easy access to current policies at any time from anywhere with access to the internet.  As an added feature, personnel can be encourage or required to provide an interactive acknowledgement of the material, which is easily tracked and reported on an as-needed basis.  This acknowledgement is consistent with the spirit of protecting both the personnel and the organization.
